Wheatfield and Portlaoise Prisons are key correctional facilities in Dublin, Ireland, managed by the Irish Prison Service. Wheatfield Prison, located in Clondalkin, houses up to 540 inmates and includes extensive educational and vocational training facilities. Portlaoise prison, has a capacity of 291 inmates, including a medical unit and a controlled behavioral unit.
Our role in these projects involved advanced CFD fire simulations & conducting detailed risk assessments and integrating advanced fire detection systems, such as ,to ensure rapid response and minimal disruption. Comprehensive emergency evacuation plans were developed, featuring clear signage and accessible escape routes for both staff and inmates. Our work ensured that all fire safety measures were seamlessly integrated with the existing infrastructure, enhancing overall safety and security within these facilities.
