This multi-site hyperscale programme involved the delivery of large-scale greenfield and brownfield data centre campuses across Europe, requiring centralised technical governance and consistent design assurance across projects ranging from 40MW to 90MW. Operating within complex client-side delivery structures, the programme demanded rigorous control of technical standards, delegated design packages and multidisciplinary coordination throughout design, construction and handover phases.
Acting as Engineer of Record, the role included single-point accountability for the Basis of Design, technical standards and performance requirements across architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and specialist systems. The scope also encompassed technical governance of delegated design, formal design sign-off, contractor and vendor review processes, interface management with utilities and statutory authorities, and oversight of compliance and change control across parallel campus developments.
Working across multiple concurrent programmes, the delivery strategy focused on maintaining consistency, technical assurance and controlled risk management from design development through live construction and operational handover.
This project demonstrates AFEC’s capability to provide Engineer of Record leadership for complex hyperscale developments, delivering coordinated technical governance, multidisciplinary assurance and controlled delivery across large-scale mission-critical campus environments.
