Summary

This programme involved the delivery of on-site power generation infrastructure for hyperscale data centre campuses across EMEA and APAC, supporting resilient and grid-independent energy strategies for large-scale mission-critical operations. Developed within live hyperscale environments, the programme required multidisciplinary coordination across utility providers, OEMs, EPC contractors and campus operations teams to ensure reliable and compliant power delivery throughout phased construction and energisation stages.

Acting as lead engineer and multidisciplinary consultant, the scope included the design and coordination of gas generation infrastructure, gas and electrical grid interfaces, protection systems, ATEX compliance, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, and integration with campus-wide MV/LV distribution and control systems. The programme also involved interface management across utilities and specialist vendors, alongside technical assurance, compliance coordination and support through design, installation and handover phases.

Designed to support operational resilience and reduce dependency on grid constraints, the infrastructure strategy enabled controlled integration of on-site generation systems within live hyperscale campuses while maintaining alignment with client operational requirements and long-term capacity planning.

This project demonstrates AFEC’s capability to deliver complex power infrastructure programmes for hyperscale developments, combining technical leadership, utility coordination and resilience-focused engineering across large-scale mission-critical environments.
