Delivered as part of Scotland’s post-Grenfell building safety programme, this Development involved comprehensive fire risk and single building assessments across high-rise residential blocks, supporting remediation planning and enhanced life safety measures. Operating within occupied buildings, the project required detailed investigation, stakeholder coordination and risk-based analysis to inform compliant and practical upgrade strategies.
The scope included Type 4 Fire Risk Assessments and Single Building Assessments, incorporating intrusive inspections, cladding system validation and fire performance benchmarking. Remediation strategies were developed to address external wall systems, firestopping, cavity barriers and internal service penetrations, alongside interim safety measures such as enhanced detection and monitoring systems. Delivered in close coordination with residents, housing bodies and public authorities, the project also included high-quality technical reporting aligned with national SBA guidance and the development of consistent assessment frameworks.
This project demonstrates AFEC’s capability to support complex building safety programmes within live residential environments, combining detailed technical assessment, stakeholder engagement and risk-led remediation strategies aligned with evolving regulatory frameworks.
